We have had an exciting year at Cargo Express, making over 160,758 routes and providing time-critical transport, as well as logistics, customs, and warehousing solutions to our customers.
Our business has also expanded to newer heights – including many new company developments, from new additions to the fleet and expanding our operations to training our team and welcoming fresh talent to improve our services.

Expanding into sea and air freight
We have increased our service offering this year to include sea and air freight. Our expansion allows us to better meet our customers’ logistical requirements for imports and exports on a global scale.
With these new services, we were better equipped to help our customer’s business based in Immingham overcome obstacles they faced when importing from Shanghai, China to Doncaster, UK. This was due to prolonged Covid restrictions in Shanghai causing a build-up of freight at the posts.
As a result of these restrictions, it had become difficult to import goods within their required timeframe via their usual sea freight method, so we supported them with an air freight delivery to move their goods more quickly.
Recognition for our compliant operations
Our team is proud to have achieved accreditations from FORS and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Earned Recognition Accreditation for our excellent compliance and safe logistics operations.
We are one of the few firms in its class to have been awarded the DVSA accreditation and are proud to have received a clean sheet with no major or minor notes. Learn more about how this demonstrates our strong commitment to compliance.
Experienced and adapted to industry changes
Due to legislation changes, the procedure for customs declarations is in the process of changing from the previous Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight (CHIEF) system to the new Customs Declarations Service (CDS) – a big change for the logistics industry!
As a result, we took steps to ensure our company and team were CDS-ready. We changed to the new CDS system early in the year and provided additional training to our current team in advance, alongside expanding the team to bring in specialist individuals to support this.
Some changes to customs declarations have already come into place, meaning all UK imports must now be declared via the new system. However, from 1st December 2023, this will also apply to exports and there are certain steps you need to take to ensure your business is prepared for the change to CDS.
Due to changing our procedures in advance, we are qualified and highly prepared to help you transition to CDS seamlessly and ensure your business can continue to export as normal under the new system.
Growing our fleet
Throughout 2022, we have expanded our fleet by 8 vehicles, with our latest additions being two new Scania R460 trucks and a Renault Master Low Loader.
Our diverse and varied fleet helps us offer effective logistics solutions to ensure we meet all customer requirements. From having the required number of vehicles for offering time-critical transport to our customers’ businesses to ensuring we have the flexibility to continue supporting our clients in 2023.
Our plans for 2023
We are going to further expand our fleet, with plans for lots of new vehicles to join our fleet in the early months of next year. Our plans also include improving our warehouse management services to make our process even more efficient for our customers.
We also have lots of other exciting plans that we look forward to sharing with you over the next 12 months.
